Top 3 Things My Kids Have Learned - That I Wish They Didn't

Posted by Mandy at 9:47 AM
Thing #1 - How to spit - from their dad
Nothing like walking into church on Sunday, and having your 3 year old bend over and spit into the bushes before he enters the doors.

"Hey Sam, bet I can spit farther than you."

Thing #2 - How to incorporate unnecessary vowels and consonants  into words - from everyone
Yeah, we're in Arkansas. I don't mind a good "Y'all" or "fixin' to" but when simple words like "bed" turn into "beh-yed" then I'm raising an eyebrow.

Thing #3 - That someone bending over equals they need a smacked bottom. - from their dad. (are we seeing a bad influence trend here?)
Me - "Carter! Why did you hit me on the rear?!"
Carter - "Well.. that's what daddy does!"
If you're around a Moss boy - don't drop necessary items.

I'm sure I'm the only one that has kids that have picked up things I wish they wouldn't have... but in case I'm not.. feel free to share your top 3! Make me feel better about my parenting, would ya?

I'm with you on the unnecessary vowels! I know my accent is pretty bad, but my oldest's has gotten VERY southern! But he's very easy to correct so when we hear something like yay-ya we correct him and he fixes it pronto. He's also picked up a couple of phrases from other church kids. Not bad ones, just ones that will drive you CRAZY when repeated constantly! Like "can I tell you something?" He would say that before every sentence if i'd let him!

Okay, the smacked bottom thing,I am guilty of that...and I know lots of people who do that as well...LOL.My kids do that too.I think the worst experience we have had with that is when Kendall got in trouble for doing that to her teacher...but I would have loved to been the fly on that awkward wall.

She spits too,and that is from her bio dad(he dips).I hate it.

and I also hate the improper enunciations.Grr.

Oh my. I'm sure that's to come! My son JJ (he's two) alreay imitates everything his Daddy does. Thankfully Daddy has pretty good manners :) However, he can't wait to teach JJ to do manly things. Time will tell!

Your post is hilarious! I don't let my children watch anything but "baby t.v" as my son calls it and yet they know all the wrestling moves known to man. I don't get it! Loved your list! Thanks for stopping by!

Great Post!!!
My girls are still babies, but there are still things that I wish they didn't know...Like to expect the "dessert" after their meal. I sweat Q will not get out of her high chair until she has had some of those sweet puffs. :)

I love your blog by the way...just so you know.

Hope that you will take part in Bad Mommy Rehab on Monday. You are such an encouragement to me and I KNOW you will be to my other readers too!

Your Thing #2 would have to be my #1!!! Wow! Angela and Steven are the worst, and the problem is that sometimes I'm laughing to hard to straighten them out!

I really, really loved the beh-yed one! We're in Memphis and I hear that speak all the TIME! It drives me nuts!

I love this! My husband does some stuff that I cringe at too, like making a game out of farting(I hate that word!) on each other...GROSS! My son is blessed to have a fabulous dad though. So if this is the worst, I can deal with it!

I look forward to coming back and reading some more of your blog.
